The Wife Season 3

An epic love story, a new family, and intriguing drama in the new season of The Wife

The Wife Season 3 returns and the viewers already have a lot to chew on. There’s an epic story at the helm, a new family to rock the Zulu brothers’ world, and a new cast guaranteed to shake things up.

This season focuses on two star-crossed lovers, Naledi and Qhawe played by Gaisang K. Noge and Kwenzo Ngcobo, respectively. The only confirmed change this season is the addition of the SAFTA-winning actor Wiseman Mncube who steps in as the new Mqhele. The most interesting this about this season is that it expands beyond the Johannesburg taxi industry to Royal Thabeng and the North West. This means the show will also feature a more non-Zulu-speaking cast, giving more variety in this groundbreaking telenovela.

Qhaledi on The Wife

Season 1 gave us Mqhele and Hlomu, Mzansi’s most loved couple in a story inspired by the novel Hlomu the Wife, a bestseller by Dudu Busani-Dube. Zandile and Nkosana gave us a love story that reminded us of an in-depth history of the Zulu matriarch, the glue who held the Zulu brothers together.

An epic love story between Qhawe and Naledi

When Naledi met Qhawe for the first time, the couple’s on-screen chemistry lit up the social media streets. In season two, we saw their love for one another developing into something until Naledi got kidnapped. Qhawe has taken this upon himself to fight for his love. The Zulu brother went all the way to the Royal Thabeng to rescue Naledi not knowing that he was stepping on dangerous grounds. He fights Naledi’s kidnappers all alone but ends up defeated and thrown into a dungeon with chains.

What he doesn’t know is that the kidnapper is Naledi’s father who hired people to take her away from Johannesburg so she can fulfill the family commitment to chieftaincy. Naledi is a princess daughter of the chief of the Royal Thabeng. Her father (played by Sello Motloung) is Kgosi Lerumo Montsho, the Chief of the Royal Thabeng. He wants Naledi to marry a Tswana gentleman, Sefako (played by Stoan Seate) but the Tswana doctor only has eyes for Qhawe Zulu. Like Hlomu and Zandile, she’ll soon understand the danger of loving one of the Zulu brothers. Loving a Zulu brother means loving all of his dark and tumultuous past. She will enjoy the perks that come with the rich, handsome, powerful, and dangerous men, but will also live with the inherent danger that remains.

Qhawe and Naledi on The Wife

But Naledi’s family isn’t like Hlomu’s family, this is a Royal family, and the patriarch Kgosi is ruthless and cunning as they get. His first appearance on the show and he’s already dropping a body for stealing from him. The Zulu brothers may have finally met their match in their in-laws-to-be.

The Montsho family

This season expands beyond the Johannesburg taxi industry to Royal Thabeng and the North West, introducing a new cast like Sello Motloung as Naledi’s father, Kgosi. Motsoaledi Setumo porttrays Tshedi, Naledi’s older sister.

More exciting additions to the cast

In addition to the Montsho family, the new cast members also include Bongo Maffin’s Stoan Seate as Sefako, Qhawe’s rival for Naledi; Lungelo Mpangase, Sambulo’s love interest; Sello Ramolahloane as Molefi; and Terrence Ngwila as Detective Baloyi.
