Langes and Ayesha in Arendsvlei

Arendsvlei celebrates first muslim wedding

Once more, the joyful chime of wedding bells resounded in Arendsvlei on Wednesday, as Langes (Bobby Stuurman) and Ayesha (Megan Saayman) united in matrimony during a splendid and memorable ceremony.

Arendsvlei has witnessed numerous weddings, but this occasion held an extra layer of significance. This marked the telenovela’s first Muslim wedding, prompting the Arendvleiers to dress up in honor of the event. The journey of Langes and Ayesha to the altar was not without its challenges. Initially introduced to viewers as Bompie’s (Jarrid Geduld) trusted confidant, Langes underwent a transformative process, ultimately earning back the trust of those around him. Meanwhile, Ayesha, recognized as Janice’s (Crystal Donna Roberts) sibling, formed an instant and profound connection with Langes, unaware of his existing commitment at the time.

When Langes and Ayesha finally found each other years later, it wasn’t a smooth path either. Ayesha’s parents did not approve of her relationship with Langes, as he did not follow the Islamic faith. Langes had to dig deeper and then made the big decision to accept the Islamic faith. Soon after, wedding plans were made!

Ayesha looked beautiful in a gold dress for the ceremony, and she wore a stunning turquoise dress for the reception. Langes wore blue for his ceremony at the Mosque and then he entered the reception in a black tuxedo.

The two bridesmaids, Janice and Eva (Devonecia Swarts) wore golden dresses. The wedding was filmed in Eersteriver as well as Athlone. The scenes in the Mosque were filmed in Athlone and the reception was filmed in Eersterivier at the school.

“It is a great honor for us to tell Langes and Ayesha’s love story. The writers, directors, art department and the actors all researched the Islamic faith in order to convey this story as authentically as possible. In Arendsvlei we always celebrate love, no matter the background story, because in the end love always wins,” says Tarryn Josephs, publicity manager of Penguin Films.

May the years ahead be filled with love and joy for these two love birds!
