Summertide on M-Net

DStv picks for February – the month of love

Love is many things to many people – and in the Month of Love, M-Net, kykNET, Mzansi Magic and Mzansi Wethu will be showcasing all aspects of one of humanity’s most complex emotions. From epic love stories to captivating love triangles – via a few visits to the confounding friend-zone – love is, if you’ll pardon the allusion to the definitive song from the Notting Hill soundtrack, ‘all around‘.

Summertide

Summertide on M-Net

In family drama Summertide (Sundays at 6pm on M-Net), Rebecca is entangled in a captivating love triangle with the Field brothers, Martin and Gavin, after the former returns to the Cape with his children after his wife’s death.

Reyka

Reyka S2 on M-Net

Reyka’s (Thursdays at 8pm on M-Net) Tanner has been firmly in the friend-zone since last season with our leading lady – and seems only to be sinking deeper into it when he arrives to check up on Reyka after a near-drowning, only to find her in the arms of Leon Lombard. Will he find the courage to tell her how he feels, as they track the murderous Lover’s Lane killer?

Binnelanders

Despite Louis literally giving Naomi a heart on Binnelanders (weekdays at 7:30pm on kykNET), they’re going through a rough patch to the point where divorce is an option. The problem with the heart: after hearing that she wouldn’t make it without a transplant and the chances of finding a donor heart being very slim, Louis procured one on the black market. Naomi can’t forgive him and she hates him a little more with every beat of her illegally-sourced transplant heart. If the one-time lovebirds can’t find their way in 2024, who can? Only time will tell if their love is strong enough to survive this total eclipse of the heart.

Life With Moshe

On Mzansi Magic’s Life with Moshe (Sundays at 7pm), Moshe and Mzie are all loved up – and Moshe is waxing lyrical about his new bae after a series of testing relationship challenges.

Umkhokha: The Curse

In Umkhokha: The Curse (weekdays at 8:30pm on Mzansi Magic), lovebird husband & wife duo Busisiwe and Nkosinathi (Hope Mbele and Nay Maps) are the cutest couple and their love for each other is perfect.

Champions

New to Mzansi Magic is Champions (weekdays at 7pm) sees Sne (Jo-Anne Reyneke) and Ferrari (Thembinkosi Mthembu) engaged in some risky relationship moves as the Soshanguve Giants GM breaks all the rules and engages in some steamy moments with the club’s star striker.

Gqeberha: The Empire

It’s a battle of the Mxenge Queens, Zimkhitha, and Nozuko, this season on Gqeberha: The Empire (weekdays at 9pm on Mzansi Magic). The prize? The brother-in-law from hell, Hlumelo Mxenge! Following the murder of patriarch, Luzuko Mxenge last season, killed by his second wife, Zimkhitha, Hlumelo emerged to take over the Mxenge Empire. However, both wives are fighting for his approval…who will prevail to ascend to the Mxenge throne?

Sibongile & The Dlaminis

Sibongile and the Dlaminis in Mzansi Magic

There’s no such thing as a simple love triangle – but the trio of love triangles on Sibongile & The Dlaminis (Mon-Wed at 6:30pm on Mzansi Wethu) are more complex than most!

Kwenzo is engaged to Nomalanga – essentially a business transaction that will benefit the Dlaminis. However, Kwenzo is in love with Sibongile, who happens to be a helper at the Dlaminis’ household. When he’s presented with the opportunity to leave Nomalanga at the altar for Sibongile, who will he choose? Then, Njengaye – married to Phetheni – has an affair with Nomfundo, who happens to be their head helper. They have an illegitimate child that nobody knows about.

Lastly, Zakes paid lobola for Velephi and he thinks Maqoba is his son. Velephi is with Zakes as he is something of a ‘blesser’. Sipho (still at school) is convinced that he means the world to her.
