Showmax Original teen series Youngins is officially back with a brand-new season. The first three episodes are available to stream now on Showmax, with new episodes weekly.
Returning cast members Ayakha Ntunja, Kealeboga Masango, Lebohang Lephatsoana, Thabiso Ramotshela, and Toka Mtabane co-star as the Olifants Five, with DStv Mzansi Viewers Choice Awards winner Sannah Mchunu also returning as Matron Lulu.
When the gang of five returns to Olifantsfontein High for the second term, the outing of Principal Bae and the introduction of FW De Klerk as their new principal isn’t the only thing that’s changed. They walk onto the school grounds and find that they’ve become overnight heroes, especially to a student named TK, portrayed by the talented Katleho Mabote.
Produced by iEmmy nominees Tshedza Pictures (Outlaws, Adulting, The River), Youngins was named Best South African Streaming Series at the Behind The Scenes Awards, having also been up for Media Award of the Year at The Feather Awards, Africa’s biggest queer award ceremony, and Best Newcomer (Kea Masango) at the National Film & TV Awards South Africa.
The Season 2 teaser trailer was viewed more than a million times in its first 24 hours online – a Showmax record.
Lebohang Lephatsoana on what’s been the most rewarding thing about being on Youngins
“Youngins has shown me that my dreams are valid and reaffirmed the aspirations I’ve had since grade seven. I’m beyond grateful that it’s all coming together with such a big production. The show has afforded me the chance to work alongside actors I grew up watching, like Loyiso MacDonald and Bab’ Simo Magwaza, both incredible veterans in the industry.
