Lungelo Tyson Mathonsi joins the cast of Sibongile & The Dlaminis S2

The second season of the Mzansi Wethu telenovela Sibongile and the Dlaminis promises a shake up, with new additions to the cast and more compelling storylines. Prepare to be enthralled by the dynamics of the Kwenzo and Sibongile’s relationship as Jabu, a compelling new character, enters the scene and is set to challenge Kwenzo for Sibongile’s affections.

Jabu Mazibuko (played by Lungelo Tyson Mathonsi) assumes the role of Sibongile’s employer and romantic interest. Born to a blue-collar worker, Jabu’s life took a turn when he received a bursary from his father’s employer, Mgazini Timbers, enabling him to attend a prestigious boarding school. Despite this opportunity, Jabu has always felt a void due to his father’s hardships under the Dlaminis.

Haunted by the memory of his father—a respected man who passed away impoverished—Jabu is driven by a deep-seated desire for justice and his ultimate goal is to avenge his father’s suffering at any cost.

The KZN born and bred performance art graduate has built a promising television career, showcasing his talent through various roles including appearances on 1Magic’s Grown Woman and Mzansi Magic’s DiepCity

Sibongile & The Dlaminis has recorded viewership numbers of over 2.6 million, making it the most watched show on Mzansi Wethu. The series saw an impressive average viewership of over 2 million, with the highest being  2,688,338 live viewers.

Sibongile & The Dlaminis tells the story of Sibongile Mbambo (formerly played by Luyanda Zwane), a young woman from the rural village of Ixopo in KwaZulu-Natal who becomes a domestic worker in the lavish mansion of the wealthy Dlamini family. Her journey to fulfilling her dreams of happiness, love, and success is met with challenges which include having to lie to her father, losing out on love, and missing the opportunity to rise above expectations that people have of her. 

The series stars Nsikelelo Mthiyane as the new Sibongile alongside other star cast members who make this a must-watch including Vuyo Biyela (Kwenzo), Siyabonga Shibe (Njengaye Dlamini), Ayanda Borotho (Phetheni Dlamini), and Slindile Nodangala (Deliwe Mbambo). Baby Cele is joining the new season as Samkelisiwe, Bab’ Ntombela’s sister.

Sibongile & The Dlaminis has been renewed for season 2 and you can continue watching it on Monday-Wednesday at 18:30 on Mzansi Wethu DStv Channel 163 and you can also watch it on DStv Stream, anywhere.
