How to Manifest a Man: Mzansi TV characters reveal their secrets

The road to finding the perfect partner can feel like an impossible task – especially during a time when mjolo feels like a pandemic. Here are some insider tips from the leading ladies on some of your favourite telenovelas as they share their unique approaches to manifesting a man inspired by Mzansi Magic drama series How to Manifest a Man.

Dudu, played by Enhle Mbali, is a determined woman with one thing on her mind, indoda – Simphiwe (played by Mnqobi Kunene). This season, she refuses to let him slip through her fingers as she taps into dark manifestations. Characters like Nomalanga, played by Yolanda Myeza, from Sibongile & the Dlaminis Season 1 & 2 and Lulama, played by Rorisang Mohapi, from Gqeberha: The Empire Season 2, are no different, and they take the hot seat to reveal their characters’ creative strategies to manifest their perfect partners.

Nomalanga Dlamini on Sibongile & the Dlaminis is known for being the crafty character that Mzansi hates to love and loves to hate with below-the-belt antics, such as faking a pregnancy to trap Kwenzo (played by Vuyo Biyela) into marriage. Yolanda spills the beans on Nomalanga manifesting her ideal man.

1. You need to truly believe that what you want is going to happen. I’d say “delulu is the solulu” in that sense. Believe that you’re going to get him, that you’re going to get back together with him.

2. Act in accordance with what you’re working towards. Even when Noma wasn’t with Kwenzo, Noma still behaved as if they were still together. She still made space in her life and heart for Kwenzo. Anyone who knew her understood that her goal was to get back together with Kwenzo.

3. Show up for that person and be active in their lives. Noma did this very well. You need to show up and let them know that you are there and available for him. Remind him that you are a trustworthy and dependable person that he is looking for and hoping to find. Show him that you are the companion and partner that he wants to be with.

Lulama, Gqeberha: The Empire’s Season 2 villain, embodies obsession by successfully stealing a man and living to tell the tale. Like Dudu, Lulama will do whatever it takes to win Thulani (played by Litha Ngcukana). Rorisang offers her take on Lulama’s top tips for manifestation.

Gqeberha the Empire

1. Do not be afraid to take risks. Take that risk. It doesn’t matter if something could go wrong, if someone could get hurt. If you want that man, take that risk, jump in. That man could reject you, but take that risk.

2. Always be confident in yourself. If you really want something, just go for it. Don’t be afraid to directly confront the source of what you want. Just be confident in yourself and say, “If I really want this, then that’s what I’m going to get.”

3. I see it, I want it, I get it – that’s just Lulama’s motto. If Lulama sets her eyes on something and she really wants it, she’ll go for it and won’t stop until she gets it.

Both Yolanda and Rorisang agree that manifestation is a powerful tool. Yolanda reflects, “I believe in declaring what you want — to God, yourself, and the world. But I also accept that everything in life happens as God intends.” Rorisang adds, “When I manifest qualities in a partner — whether he’s successful, intelligent — I align myself with those traits. I believe, ‘This is what I want, and this is what I’ll get. Period.’”
