Housekeepers brand new season coming soon

By Xabiso Ngqabe
March 19, 2020

Finally! A brand new season of Housekeepers Mzansi is upon us.

Word on the street is that our favourite drama thriller Housekeepers is back with a brand new season & we cannot contain our excitement as this was one drama series that once shook Monday’s prime time viewing. We wasted no time & went trip down memory lane to revisit the reasons why this was such a hit show in Mzansi.

“In a world behind high walls and luxury, the wealthy may believe they are powerful in the comfort of their mansions, but it is the housekeepers who see all and know all.”

A dramatic thriller packed with grit and suspense which left viewers looking forward to see what’s next. Linda’s mom gets framed for murder, she then takes a risk in confronting the situation by hiding behind an apron, in an attempt to get vengeance and prove her mom’s innocence.

Duduzile Zamantungwa Mabaso is the headwriter for this 13-part series and she also developed the story with Portia Gumede and Steven Pillemer. On the directors chair sat the two powerhouses Amanda Lane and Krijay Govender. The series boasted with an ensemble cast in the likes of Thando Thabethe, Zikhona Sodlaka and Mangaliso Ngema to name a few.

Thando Thabethe gave us one of the most beautiful narration and performance of a lifetime

Thando Thabethe was widely known for her role on the SABC 1 TV Soap Generations The Legacy but after the debut of Housekeepers drama series viewers couldn’t stop praising her for a brilliant performance. Playing a character of Linda who attempts to reveal the skulls in the Zwide family closet and avenge her mother’s death. Thando delivered a world class performance which left viewers sobbing on every episode and had them feeling shivers down the spine. She also narrated the story with such a commanding voice that left viewers thrilled to come back for more. A great force to reckon with.

Thando Thabethe as Linda on Housekeepers

Mangaliso Ngema a strong black lead

When you see Mangaliso Ngema on a show you must just know that a woman is going to be treated like a queen. He has always played good characters and it was interesting to see this actor coming back to our screens after a 5 year break and taking on a villain character, something he has never done before. His portrayal of this role was so profound, making him one of the strongest black lead man in South Africa. The chemistry between him and Zikhona on screen was so wonderful considering that Housekeepers was shot in such a short space of time.

Zikhona Sodlaka gave us an award-worthy performance

Zikhona Sodlaka is such a pure talent and an impeccable performer. She gave us an award worth of a performance with this role. She played this villain role with such class and pure artistry, taking us on a journey and not losing us one bit from the very first episode to the last. Her portrayal of Boniswa was a very dark one and probably left everyone so uncomfortable. It carried so much weight and truth that makes a viewer at home feel all sort of things at once. She really took it there! A standing ovation for this actress for putting so much effort in her craft and allowing herself to be vulnerable to ensure that the message sticks and it certainly did reflect on the screen.

Of course, what’s a show without veterans like Clementine Mosimane & Connie Chiume who also graced this show. These two veterans have been showing us that indeed they are legends in this, having booked so many roles for the past years and remaining consistent throughout. Other formidable names on this ensemble cast included actors like Masasa Mbangeni, Bohang Moeko, Mike Mvelase, Lorraine Moropa, Zodwa Nkosi , Paballo Koza, Matshepo Maleme and Gabriel Mini.

Thando Thabethe took to Twitter to confirm that the show is coming back with a new season and is currently filming this month. We can only wonder what this season is bringing us as we know how it ended, with Linda still on a quest to find vengeance and prove her mom’s innocence. Viewers are excited and wondering who could be the new cast members added and what could this season have in store for us.

We can’t wait for April 6th as the series is set to debut on Mzansi Magic. Keep your eyes glued to all Mzansi Magic social media platforms for the updates as we await this great moment.
