The series starring Mapaseka Koetle, Motlatsi Mafatshe, Tsholofelo Matshaba, Aubrey Makola, Cindy Mahlangu and Unathi Mkhize airs from Monday to Wednesday at 7pm on Mzansi Magic.

The telenovela follows three women, three marriages as they discover that the wedding was the easy part. Together they navigate issues of love, finances forgiveness and identity, while confronting an uncomfortable truth about marriage.

What is Nyala O about?

At the center of the story are three women whose lives become intertwined as their marriages face unexpected challenges.

Kea Maponya, played by Mapaseka Koetle, is a confident career woman ‘on top of her game’ who believes that she has mastered the formula to a successful marriage. When she discovers the ultimate deception by her husband of 15 years Rhami Maponya played by Motlatsi Mafatshe, a secret that could see her picture-perfect family life destroyed, her world comes crashing down. Worse still, she learns that some of the people closest to her have been privy to this secret all along.

Her older sister, Mapula (played by Tsholofelo Matshaba), is approaching a new chapter in her marriage as she faces the prospect of an empty nest. As she navigates the emotional challenges she now faces, she begins a journey of rediscovering herself and her marriage to Ernest (portrayed by Aubrey Mmakola).

Meanwhile, Kea’s lifelong friend Lerato (Cindy Mahlangu) who is ambitious with a ‘princess treatment syndrome’ finds herself dealing with pride, resentment, and the growing strain of a changing dynamic within her marriage with her husband Mondli (played by Unathi Mkhize).

Together, the three women navigate issues of love, finances forgiveness and identity, while confronting an uncomfortable truth about marriage. And each has to answer the crucial question: “Why did I get married, and is that reason still enough to keep me in this marriage?”
