Seriously Single Too premieres on Netflix on 16 October 2026. The sequel forms part of Netflix‘s ongoing celebration of 10 Years of Storytelling in Africa, marking another chapter in the streamer’s investment in South African stories and filmmakers. And yes, the wait has been a long one.
The original Seriously Single premiered globally on Netflix on 31 July 2020. That means South African viewers have waited more than six years to see what Dineo and Noni have been up to since their first hilarious adventure. Six years is a long time in the dating world. People have probably gone from “it’s complicated” to married with two kids in that time but Dineo and Noni? Apparently, the friendship drama is only getting started.
What happened in Seriously Single?
Before jumping into Seriously Single Too, it is worth remembering where Dineo and Noni’s story began. The original Seriously Single was released globally on Netflix on 31 July 2020 and was billed as a sexy and hilarious South African rom-com about young Black women navigating dating and romance in Johannesburg. Set in Johannesburg, Seriously Single follows Dineo, played by Fulu Modibedi, a serial monogamist trying to navigate the modern dating world with her best friend and partner in crime, Noni, played by Tumi Morake.
Dineo is looking for love and believes she may have found it when she meets Lunga, played by Bohang Moeko, who appears to be the man of her dreams. Meanwhile, Noni is the commitment-phobe of the friendship and begins her own story with Max, played by Yonda Thomas, a bar owner with a heart of gold. The film follows the pair through a series of comedic misadventures while exploring dating, romance, friendship and the importance of figuring out what you actually want from life. At its heart, however, Seriously Single was also a story about the power of female friendship.
Who is in Seriously Single Too?
The sequel brings back some familiar faces while introducing new characters to the Seriously Single universe. Fulu Modibedi returns as Dineo, while Tumi Morake returns as Noni. Yonda Thomas is back as Max, meaning there is another connection to the original movie for fans who have been around since 2020. Actors joining the cast on the sequel include Buntu Petse, Keke Mphuthi, and Thabiso Rammusi.
