Now the show that’s setting tongues wagging non-stop is the M-Net Original family crime thriller Desert Rose, now streaming on Showmax.
The 8-part series follows the Greyling family, crippled by debt and haunted by their father’s actions. Desert Rose is a town besieged by drought but overflowing with betrayal, secrets and murder. Set on a remote farm in the Northern Cape, Desert Rose is an evocative, emotional, quirky and cinematic new family-centred drama. The eight-part drama mixes black comedy, suspense, crime, romance, sexiness, and music while focusing on the unlikely reconnecting of a father and his children.

Produced by Quizzical Pictures, it is directed by Cindy Lee and written by award-winning screenwriter and showrunner Rohan Dickson.
Impressive cast
Neil Sandilands from DAM and Sweet Tooth is joined by an impressive ensemble cast of celebrated as well as up-and-coming actors including Amalia Uys; Moffie lead star Kai Luke Brümmer; SAFTA nominees Christia Visser and Roeline Daneel; SAFTA winners Tinarie van Wyk and Brandon Daniels; comedians Ben Voss and Tracy Lee Oliver; Danny Ross; Roeline Daneel; Craig Urbani; Daniah de Villiers; Melt Sieberhagen and David Viviers.
The father, an erstwhile music star in the Northern Cape, Freddie ‘Fingers’ Greyling is played by Neil Sandilands, who also wrote and performed much of the music in the series accompanied by Theo Crous and Georgio Frazer Barry.
