Reënboogrant S2 brings new drama, romance & tough choices for the Brink family
The Brink family and their friends are heading into another year of complicated relationships, difficult choices and unexpected challenges when Reënboogrant Season 2 premieres on Friday, 28 August at 18:30 on kykNET (DStv Channel 144).
Picking up during the December holidays in the aftermath of Moniqué’s tragic accident at the river diving pool, the second season finds the young characters trying to make sense of what happened while life continues around them. School reports are handed out, new study and career opportunities emerge, old relationships become complicated and, as director and creative producer André Velts puts it, the new season becomes a pursuit of “success, love, identity and a struggle to be heard”.
We are excited about the series’ return to kykNET and advise viewers to fasten their seatbelts, because the adventures and challenges for the Brink family in this season get rougher and tougher,” says Soné Combrinck, co-producer at Sonvelt Media, the company responsible for the series.
Reënboogrant Season 2 brings new romantic complications

For Shani Brink (played by Minke Marais), the new season becomes a whirlwind of romantic challenges. She is still in love with surfer Dave Watkeys (played by Jean Henry), while Johan Viljoen (played by Righard van Jaarsveld) isn’t ready to let their relationship go. When Jacques Bronkhorst (played by Vian Singleton) reappears, Shani’s heart and her friendships become even more complicated.
Her ambition to prove herself also lands her in situations where she has to learn some hard lessons. Meanwhile, her brother Dolf Brink (played by Paul Strydom) is still processing the emotional aftermath of the river pool tragedy. Between university, work and his beloved Beetle, Dolf tries to move forward, but the return of Rachelle Labuschagne (played by Marelee Ferreira) brings secrets from her past and throws his life into turmoil once again.
Sunette faces big choices in the new season

For Sunette Brink (played by Mila de Villiers), the new year brings athletics, academic opportunities and more than one potential new love interest. The talented music prodigy Jaco (Louis Auret) gives her a new perspective, while young teacher and athletics coach Leon Tredoux (Liam Bosman) unexpectedly catches her attention. As Sunette’s world expands, she is forced to make important decisions about her future.
Trouble is coming for the Brink family and their friends

The challenges in Reënboogrant Season 2 extend beyond the Brink family. Johan’s obsessive pursuit of athletic success begins to carry dangerous consequences, while Japie Coetzee (Danté Elliot) and Hardus Bronkhorst’s (Jacques Gombault) get-rich-quick scheme pulls them deeper into trouble.
Marius Naudé (Wilco Meyer), Lizane Jacobs (Deidré Barnard), Bongi Buthelezi (Johnny Potsanyane) and the rest of the group of friends also find themselves facing new relationships, difficult truths and personal challenges. With more drama, tougher romantic choices and fresh trouble ahead, the second season promises to put the young residents of Reënboogrant through another eventful chapter.
