South African stories continue to travel far beyond the country’s borders, and Netflix is doubling down on local productions as it enters its second decade in South Africa. Following its 10-year anniversary showcase in Johannesburg, Netflix has unveiled a substantial slate of returning and new South African Netflix shows and movies for 2026, spanning drama, comedy, romance, reality television, dating shows and family entertainment.

The slate includes returning favourites, new local productions and major international formats getting a South African edition. So, if you’re looking for what’s coming to Netflix South Africa in 2026, these are the titles to keep on your radar.

Blood Legacy Season 2

The Ndlovu family is back and their business, power and survival are once again under threat. In Blood Legacy Season 2, secrets surrounding the origins of the family’s empire begin to resurface, forcing the fractured Ndlovu family to confront whether their greatest danger is coming from their enemies or from within their own ranks. The drama returns with a major South African ensemble cast including Xolile Tshabalala, Buyile Mdladla, Mike Ndlangamandla, Thembi Nyandeni, Amanda Seome, Dineo Rasedile, Anthony Oseyemi, Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa, Nandipa Khubone, Pallance Dladla, Wiseman Zitha, Unathi Mkhize, Bonga Dlamini and Thabiso Ramotshela, among others.

How to Ruin Diwali: Meet The Parents

How To Ruin Diwali is one of the new South African Netflix shows

The How to Ruin universe is getting a new cultural twist with How to Ruin Diwali: Meet The Parents. The comedy follows Mmabatho Nkomo, an overachieving perfectionist who meets her fiancé’s traditional Indian family for the first time. Her attempt to make a good impression goes spectacularly wrong when she accidentally exposes her future father-in-law’s secret affair. With Diwali only days away, Mmabatho must navigate unfamiliar cultural territory while attempting to reunite the family she has torn apart, without creating even more chaos.

The film is a collaboration between Burnt Onion Productions and Urban Vision, with producer Jayan Moodley, known for The Kandasamys, involved in the project. The cast includes Rosemary Zimu-Mnguni, Kyle Clark, Jailoshini Naidoo, Koobeshen Naidoo, Sonia Mbele, Meshack Mavuso, Luthando ‘BU’ Mthembu, Denise Zimba and Ashish Gangapersad, among others.

How to Ruin Diwali: Meet The Parents launches on 30 October 2026.

Another Disaster Holiday

The Disaster Holiday family is heading back into chaos. Directed by Rethabile Ramaphakela, Another Disaster Holiday follows Joseph Ngema as he prepares to become a father again at 50 and sets out to prove that he is still the father of the year. What begins as a romantic Sun City babymoon with his heavily pregnant partner Nandi soon takes a disastrous turn when Joseph decides to crash his children’s holiday with his ex-wife Dora.

Making matters worse is Dora’s younger boyfriend, who is stealing Joseph’s thunder and Kay Sibiya joins the returning cast as Dora’s new bae and Joseph’s newest competition. Naturally, things do not go according to plan.

Another Disaster Holiday arrives on Netflix on 11 December 2026.

Tuiskoms Season 2

Fans of the Afrikaans romance drama Tuiskoms have another season to look forward to. In Tuiskoms Season 2, Fleur and Werner are preparing for their wedding when their carefully planned future takes an unexpected turn. Meanwhile, a free-spirited woman with a complicated past returns to Wilderness after years away, hoping to reconnect with the family she left behind. Across the town, old wounds, new beginnings and unexpected connections begin reshaping the lives of those who call Wilderness home. The returning cast includes Amalia Uys, Kim Syster, Jane de Wet, Clint Brink and Armand Aucamp.

Love Is Blind: South Africa

Netflix‘s global dating experiment is finally getting a South African edition. Love Is Blind: South Africa will see singles attempt to find love and choose someone to marry without ever meeting them face-to-face. The couples will move in together, plan their weddings and discover whether the emotional connections they formed can survive physical attraction, outside pressures and the realities of life together.

The South African version will be hosted by Dineo Langa and Zothile “Solo Ntsizwa” Langa and produced by afrOkaans. For Netflix South Africa, it’s a significant expansion into the reality and dating-show space — and one of the most intriguing new local titles coming in 2026.

Seriously Single Too

Dineo and Noni are back, but their friendship may not survive their latest adventure. Seriously Single Too follows the now-estranged friends as what should have been a wild Cape Town bachelorette getaway descends into a disastrous chain of events. The trip pushes their already complicated friendship to breaking point, leaving them wondering whether they can actually make it through together.

The buddy comedy is directed by Rethabile Ramaphakela and Katleho Ramaphakaela and stars Fulu Modibedi, Tumi Morake, Buntu Petse, Keke Mphuthi, Yonda Thomas and Thabiso Rammusi.

The film is coming to Netflix in 2026.

Stars & Vows: Anele & Buzza

From romance to wedding planning, Stars & Vows: Anele & Buzza will follow the relationship between television and radio personality Anele Mdoda and Bonelela “Buzza James” Mgudlwa. The documentary soap and wedding special follows the couple as they navigate the excitement, challenges and anticipation leading up to their big day. The series is created by Nomzamo Mbatha, Teddy Geldart, Vuyo Sowah and Pet Tasara, and directed by Pascual Wakefield. Stars & Vows: Anele & Buzza is scheduled to launch on Netflix later in 2026.

Marked Season 2

The criminal underworld gets even darker in Marked Season 2. The second season follows Babalwa as she sinks deeper into the criminal underworld, putting her family in even greater danger. Created by Akin Omotoso, Sydney Dire and Steven Pillemer, the heist thriller stars Lerato Mvelase, Sdumo Mtshali, Natasha Thahane, Sphamandla Dhludhlu and Bonko Khoza.

Netflix has confirmed that the second season is currently in production.

Meet the Khumalos 2

The Khumalos are back, and family drama is once again on the menu. Meet the Khumalos 2 brings back the family chaos with two mothers, an unforgettable road trip and an engagement hanging by a thread. The sequel is directed by Jayan Moodley and stars Khanyi Mbau, Ayanda Borotho, Jesse Suntele and Khosi Ngema.

The film is currently in production, with Netflix yet to announce a release date.

More South African Netflix titles are on the way

The titles above are only part of Netflix‘s expanding South African slate.

As the streamer begins its second decade in the country, it has also announced new partnerships with local production companies, including The Bomb Shelter Film Productions, which is working on a new scripted series, and Tshedza Pictures, which has entered into a multi-title partnership covering four scripted series. BrightFire Productions is also working on a new dating reality show. That means there are even more new South African Netflix shows in development beyond the titles with confirmed details.

Netflix‘s latest slate builds on a decade of local storytelling that has produced titles including Blood & Water, Young, Famous & African, Unseen, Silverton Siege, Fatal Seduction, How to Ruin Christmas, Beauty and the Bester, Marked, Kings of Joburg, Blood Legacy and The Polygamist. The streamer says more than 300 local titles have become available on Netflix over the past decade, with productions filmed across 20 cities in eight provinces.
