DStv is turning up the heat this month with a watchlist packed with must-see local favourites and buzz-worthy international titles. Leading the charge is Uthando Nes’thembu, which premieres tonight on Mzansi Magic, diving back into the high-stakes drama of the Mseleku family as unresolved tensions, shifting relationships and emotional fallout continue to play out. It’s appointment viewing for fans who’ve followed every twist of Mzansi’s most talked-about polygamous household.

Beyond local fire, DStv’s February watchlist delivers premium global storytelling across reality, documentary and drama. The Braxtons offers an intimate, emotional reunion as the iconic family comes together to honour a sister’s final wish, while BBC Earth’s Human explores the astonishing story of our evolution with groundbreaking insight. Crime lovers are also in for a treat with Boston Blue, a fresh spinoff rooted in family legacy and justice, alongside heavyweight titles like Tulsa King Season 3, King & Conqueror, Bride Hard and Frank.

Tensions are running high in Mzansi’s favourite polygamous family, the Mselekus, following the bombshell revelations from the December special, #Uncut: Uthando neS’thembu. The wives – MaCele, MaYeni, MaNgwabe and MaKhumalo – continue dealing with their different challenges, with some still unhappy about Musa bringing MaKhwela, aka Number 5, into the family. Season 8 drew 2.8 million viewers per episode and generated over one billion impressions on social media, with multiple award nominations to its name. New episodes at 8PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Frank|Watch at 8PM on Wednesdays from 18 February (kykNET)

Frank Opperman is a legend in his own lifetime. Equally at home in front of the camera or on stage, he has been one of South Africa’s greatest actors for decades. But he is also a musician, philosopher, father and grandfather. In this three-part documentary series, he and his son, director Frankie Opperman, take to the open road in search of a lifetime of memories. They travel from Woodstock in Cape Town to Melville in Johannesburg, visiting Frank’s friends and colleagues along the way in places like Worcester, Hermanus, Klaarstroom, and even Oppermansdorp.

The Braxtons S1|Watch at 7PM on Sundays (Bravo)

The Braxtons marks an emotionally raw and intimate reunion of the Braxton family, seven-time Grammy winner Toni, four-time Grammy nominee Tamar, Towanda, Trina, and Ms Evelyn, as they come together two years after the passing of their sister Traci to honour her final wish: that the sisters stay close. A spin-off from the fan-favourite Braxton Family, The Braxtons was up for a 2025 Namic Vision Award in the Reality category. Collider calls it “an emotionally raw new chapter.”

Father Brown S13|Watch at 8PM on Mondays (BBC Brit)

Mark Williams stars as Father Brown, a Roman Catholic priest who uses his confession booth-honed expertise in asking questions and understanding human nature to solve crimes in his village in the 1950s.  The UK’s number 1 daytime drama last year, Father Brown is inspired by the GK Chesterton short stories, which The Guardian confidently proclaimed “the best the genre has ever seen.” The cosy crime series has been nominated for Best Family Drama at the TV Choice Awards and Best Production Design – Period at the 2025 Online Film and Television Association Awards, among other accolades. 

Human|Watch at 8PM on Tuesdays (BBC Earth)

Paleoanthropologist Ella Al-Shamahi reveals humanity’s incredible story across 300 000 years of human evolution. Thanks to new discoveries, we’re learning that the story is stranger and more surprising than we ever imagined. When homo sapiens emerged in Africa, we were not alone: there were at least six other human species alive at the time. Human examines how we went from being just one of many types of human to the dominant form of life on the planet. Human has a 100% critics’ rating on Rotten TomatoesLos Angeles Times calls it “an exhilarating origin story”; New Scientist “fantastic” and “unusually clear”; and Wall Street Journal says, “What archaeologists and paleontologists are able to determine now about our ancestors is detective work of a very advanced order, and Human makes it accessible.”

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit S27|Watch at 8PM on Wednesdays from 4 February (Universal TV)

Law & Order’s flagship procedural Special Victims Unit returns, with Captain Olivia Benson weighing up her future within the department. Previous seasons have won six Emmys, including Outstanding Lead Actress: Drama for Mariska Hargitay as Benson. Grammy winner Ice-T returns as Sergeant Fin Tutuola, while Eswatini-born Noma Dumezweni joins the cast this season as Benson’s new chief, Kathryn Tynan. Fan-favourite Sergeant Amanda Rollins, who left the squad in Season 24, will be returning to help them face the changing times in New York City.

Boston Blue S1|Watch at 7PM on Tuesdays from 10 February (M-Net)

The Blue Bloods spinoff series Boston Blue centres on Danny Reagan (Emmy nominee Donnie Wahlberg), who’s moved from NYC to Boston to reconnect with his younger son, Sean (Mika Amonsen), a rookie patrol officer. Danny’s new partner is Detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green from The Walking Dead). Like Danny, she comes from a high-profile cop family, including Boston DA Mae Silver (Emmy nominee Gloria Reuben from ER), Police Superintendent Sarah Silver (Maggie Lawson from Psych), rookie cop Jonah (Marcus Scribner from Black-ish) and renowned Baptist pastor Reverend Edwin Peters (Ernie Hudson from Ghostbusters). Boston Blue has an 82% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has already been renewed for a second season. As Entertainment Weekly promises fans, “Sometimes, the best thing a show can do is deliver exactly what the viewers want – nothing more, nothing less. And that’s just what CBS does with Boston Blue.”

Tulsa King S3|Watch at 9PM on Tuesdays from 10 February (M-Net)

Season 3 of the hit crime series Tulsa King returns Oscar nominee Sylvester Stallone to his role as former New York Mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi, as he works to establish the mob in Tulsa, Oklahoma after doing 25 years in jail. This season should see Dwight sitting pretty with a legal marijuana distribution business and his love Margaret (Dana Delany from Desperate Housewives) at his side, but FBI Special Agent Musso (Kevin Pollak from The Usual Suspects), who black-bagged Dwight in the S2 finale, is expecting him to turn informant. Dwight’s moves into the alcohol trade are also set to pit him against an unscrupulous foe (Robert Patrick, aka the T-1000 in Terminator 2​​). 

Look out for Samuel L. Jackson as hitman Russell Lee Washington in episode 9, which serves as a backdoor pilot for Tulsa King’new spinoff series, NOLA King. Tulsa King was Paramount’s highest-rated debut series of 2022, and stunt co-ordinator Freddie Poole has received Emmy nominations for two years running. Season 3 has an 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with Collider praising it as “a thoroughly tense ride… The best that Sheridan’s series has been so far.” 

King & Conqueror S1|Watch at 9PM on Thursday from 12 February (M-Net)

King & Conqueror tells the story of the Battle of Hastings in 1066, against the backdrop of a clash between two dynasties that defined a country – and a continent – for centuries. BAFTA nominee James Norton (Happy Valley) stars as Harold of Wessex, opposite Emmy nominee Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones’ Jaime Lannister) as Harold’s ally-turned-enemy, William, Duke of Normandy, aka William the Conqueror. Also look out for Eddie Marsan (The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe) as King Edward and multi-award winner Clémence Poésy (Tenet, In Bruges) as Matilda. 

Bride Hard|Watch at 8PM on Sundays from 15 February (M-Net)

The perfect action romcom for your post-Valentine’s Day Galentine’s get together, Bride Hard reunites two Pitch Perfect besties (Critics Choice nominee Rebel Wilson and multi-award winner Anna Camp) as childhood best friends Sam and Betsy. Their friendship is on the rocks because Sam keeps skipping out on all of Betsy’s pre-wedding fun, thanks to her top-secret spy job. But when mercenaries crash the posh private island wedding, only Sam (and the bridal posse) can save the day, like John McClane in Die Hard. Or as the San Francisco Chronicle puts it, “Yippee ki‐yay, Rebel Wilson is a one-woman killing machine.” Directed by Simon West (The Expendables), Bride Hard also stars Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph (Only Murders in the Building, The Holdovers) and Emmy nominees Anna Chlumsky (Amy in Veep) and Justin Hartley (This Is Us). 

In Flight S1|Watch at 8PM on Thursdays from 19 February (Universal)

In Flight centres on London-based flight attendant Jo Conran, whose 19-year-old son is imprisoned in Bulgaria for a murder he denies committing. When a gangster blackmails Jo into smuggling drugs, she is pushed into a world of corruption and violence to save her child’s life. The cast is led by Katherine Kelly (Mr Bates Vs The Post Office), with Ashley Thomas (Top Boy) and Stuart Martin (Rebel Moon) co-starring. Co-created by Emmy-winning Slow Horses director Adam Randall, the six-part British crime thriller has a 100% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with The Guardian saying, “In Flight will be a classic of the genre… it’s brisk, it’s well made, it’s entirely harrowing.”
