The Dhlomo empire is cracking from within
Every family has disagreements, but the Dhlomos are fighting a full-scale war. Let’s start with Bobbi, the family’s carefree heir. While he’s charismatic, approachable and genuinely cares about the people around him, he’s never shown the maturity or discipline expected of someone destined to lead the family business. He enjoys the perks of being an heir but rarely takes the responsibility seriously.
Watching from the sidelines is his uncle, Papi. Unlike Bobbi, Papi is calculated, strategic and determined to shape the future of the Dhlomo empire. His resentment towards Busani has become one of the show’s biggest storylines, leading him to make an unthinkable decision: ordering her assassination. The plan almost succeeded. Unaware that Busani was spending time with Papi’s own son, Kopano, the hitmen moved in. It was only after speaking to Kopano over the phone that Papi realised his child was in danger too. Forced to act quickly, he intervened and saved both Kopano and Busani from the very attack he had set in motion.
Kopano now knows that his own father was responsible for trying to have Busani killed, but he has chosen not to tell her. That secret continues to hang over every interaction between them, while the relationship between father and son has deteriorated beyond repair. Their simmering tension eventually exploded into open conflict, proving that sometimes the greatest enemy isn’t outside the family, it’s sitting across the dinner table.
Bobbi’s love life has become one complicated mess
For 16 years, Lethabo has stood faithfully by his side. They’ve built a home together, shared a life together and, for all intents and purposes, lived like husband and wife. Except they’re not. Despite everything they’ve shared, Bobbi has never married her, leaving Lethabo wondering whether she’s simply become comfortable rather than truly cherished. Their relationship has been built on promises that never quite materialise, and viewers have watched her wrestle with the growing realisation that love alone may not be enough.
Just when it seemed they might finally get back on track, Bobbi’s growing feelings for Ndumi complicated everything. Ironically, Ndumi once discouraged her younger brother, Ntando, from pursuing Bobbi’s younger sister, Balungile. She believed their families came from different worlds and that a relationship between them would only end in heartbreak. Now she’s facing the very situation she warned against. Her feelings for Bobbi have forced her to question her own beliefs, creating one of the show’s most intriguing emotional conflicts.
The characters keep proving they’re impossible to predict
One of The Four of Us’ greatest strengths is that nobody stays in one lane for long. Papi is capable of ordering a murder one moment and risking everything to save his own son the next. Vera remains one of the family’s moral anchors despite being married to one of its most dangerous men.
