Sy, die Meeue en die Heilige Gees

This three-part drama follows Ingrid, a single mother of six-year-old Zoey, as she wrestles with the exhausting, imperfect reality of raising a child alone. It’s a story about identity, faith and redemption. The cast includes Simone Nortman, Mila-Sofi Clasen, Evan Hengst, Ira Blackenberg, Marion Holm, Albert Pretorius. Die Bom

Silwerskerm Festival 2026 films revealed

kykNET‘s annual showcase of South African short films and documentaries returns this spring. The short film strand includes dramas Genoeg and ‘n Poppy op die Heuwel, romantic comedy Twee Persent, thriller Verwerking and closing piece Short Back & Sides. The documentary strand opens with Grond Onthou and runs through to Druk Dit, a sports documentary about resilience and determination. A genuine showcase of South African filmmaking talent, with something for every taste across just a few weeks. Mzansi Wethu brings drama this September on DStv

The Next Verse Season 1

This six-part music-reality series pairs young South African creatives with the older family and community voices who shaped them, building one original song together across generations. The cast includes Zakhona Duma (“Mam’ncane”), Handsome, Kwame, Money Badoo. The show puts family history on equal footing with the finished song. Watch the new reality series on Sundays from 27 September on Mzansi Wethu, DStv Channel 163.

Umhlaba Wezifiso

This 120-episode telenovela, newly dubbed and localised into isiZulu, follows Aline’s fight to protect her murdered husband’s land from a ruthless rival, and the complicated love story that unfolds along the way. Starring Cauã Reymond, Barbara Reis, Agatha Moreira, Johnny Massaro. South African audiences love a good telenovela, and this one has drama and heart in equal measure. M-Net goes global this September on DStv

Miss World 2026

South Africa’s Romanda Hombir, an audiologist and founder of the Caring Purpose Foundation, represents the country at the 73rd Miss World pageant, broadcast live from Vietnam. Representing South Africa is Romanda Hombir. A South African contender with a cause behind her, on a global stage. Watch this special broadcast on Saturday 5 September at 2PM on M-Net, DStv Channel 101.

The 78th Emmy Awards, live

Mariska Hargitay hosts television’s biggest night live from Los Angeles, becoming the first woman to host the Emmys in 15 years. Worth watching live for the history alone. Watch the special broadcast on Tuesday 15 September at 2am and rebroadcast at 9PM on the same day on M-Net.

Elvis, reimagined

Baz Luhrmann brings his cinematic style to Elvis Presley in Concert: EPiC, a reimagining of a classic Elvis concert film. Featuring Elvis Presley (archival performance footage), directed by Baz Luhrmann. A big-screen treatment for anyone who loved his Elvis biopic. Watch the special on Wednesday 30 September on M-Net.

Mzansi Magic keeps the favourites going

No new titles land on the channel this month, but its returning shows are still pulling in audiences: Nyalo O…, KwaBaba, Inimba and Homecoming, plus reality hit Married at First Sight Mzansi Season 3 and medical drama Critical but Stable Season 1. Spinners Season 1 is also still going strong, ahead of its new season landing next month.

kykNET’s soapies and telenovelas worth turning into

kykNET‘s weeknight dramas have plenty going on this September. Suidooster builds towards Frankie and Justin’s wedding, complicated by Riaan’s feelings for the bride, while Pieter and Emily’s marriage comes under strain. Binnelanders sees Joe’s search for his biological mother take a shocking turn, as tensions boil over between Johan and Katryn. Diepe Waters rocks Boskruin with a tragedy that leaves Gys reeling, even as Rossouw finds unexpected fame online. And on Skemergrond, Lily and Ruan’s relationship unravels after the fallout from the Isaac investigation, just as an old friend re-enters her life.

Boer Soek ‘n Vrou S18

kykNET‘s long-running dating show hits a pivotal month, Thursdays at 8PM. Farm visits wrap up with a surprise announcement and difficult decisions, before the two remaining partners on each farm meet friends and family over a braai. The season closes with a town visit alongside presenter Reandi, testing whether the remaining partners can see themselves fitting into the farmer’s life and community.
