Except the replacement cake wasn’t delivered by a random baker. It was delivered by Pretty, the mother of Rhami’s sixteen-year-old son and twelve-year-old daughter Kea knows nothing about.
In one breathtaking twist, the woman who delivered the cake celebrating Kea and Rhami’s anniversary is the same woman Rhami visits later that night, leaving Kea alone in bed on the night of their fifteenth anniversary.
It takes a village to keep a secret
Rhami’s double life didn’t survive sixteen years because he was simply a good liar. It survived because the people around him helped protect it. Pretty’s mother has accepted the arrangement because Rhami provides. Instead of questioning why her daughter has spent years waiting for a married man, she happily refers to him as her son-in-law, believing financial stability justifies emotional suffering.

Kea learns the truth
The biggest twist arrives during what should have been a simple family photoshoot. Lethabo unexpectedly arrives at Rhami’s house hoping to see his father. Instead of welcoming him inside, Rhami rushes to the gate and sends him away before Kea can see him. The heartbreaking irony is that Lethabo still believes Kea is his father’s side chick after seeing her at the hospital. He has no idea she’s actually Rhami’s wife.
Watching from the window, Kea immediately senses something is wrong. She follows Lethabo, offers him a lift home and innocently asks him questions along the way. Believing he’s speaking to his father’s mistress, Lethabo casually opens up about his family, his mother and the father who’s always been present in his life. Rhami has another family, two children he’s never stopped showing up for, never missing birthdays or Lethabo’s soccer matches while somehow convincing Kea she was his entire world.
Now that Kea has seen the truth with her own eyes, there is no putting the pieces back together. The question is, what happens when every lie you’ve spent sixteen years protecting finally comes crashing down?
